The Academic Advising staff in the Bennett Student Services Center will help you plan your academic future at Indian Hills Community College and beyond.
Consideration of each student as a unique individual with distinctive needs is recognized as the foundation of IHCC’s advising program. Academic Advisors at Indian Hills Community College’s Main, North, and Centerville campuses work with students on course selection, transfer and career planning, resource referrals, and creating academic plans. The advising philosophy is grounded in a holistic, developmental advising approach to empower students to realize their Life.Changing. potential.
The primary responsibilities of IHCC’s academic advisors are to:
- Help students transition and prepare for success in higher education
- Help students identify educational and professional goals
- Encourage students to connect to college and community resources to supplement and enhance their experience
- Guide students’ participation in the creation of an appropriate academic plan through meaningful planning and selection of courses with attention to institutional policies and degree requirements
Our Academic Advisors are available Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Bennett Student Services Center on the Ottumwa Campus.
