Library Databases

Available only for current students, faculty, and staff of Indian Hills Community College) The library has a number of online research databases that may be accessed on college computers at both the Ottumwa and Centerville campuses, as well as at any of the eight County Service Centers. All databases, with the exception of LexisNexis, may also be accessed online from off-campus.

Passwords Required:
To access the Library Database Passwords, log in to MyHills, click “Library” in the “Campus Links” box, found on your MyHills home page. Then select “Passwords for Online Databases” (Note: This area is available only to current students, faculty, and staff.)

A to Z Food America

A to Z Food America contains recipes in all course categories (appetizers, soups, salads, breads, main courses, side dishes, desserts, snacks, and beverages) for six US regions, all 50 states, and 33 ethnic cuisines. A to Z Food America also covers food culture for the above regions, states, and ethnic cuisines with articles such as Classic Dishes, State Foods, Top Agricultural Products, Special Occasion Foods, Ethnic and Geographic Influences, Special Ingredients, and Food Trivia.


A to Z World Food  

A to Z World Food is the only food database that contains traditional recipes for 174 countries of the world in all course categories: appetizers, soups, salads, breads, main courses, side dishes, desserts, and beverages. AtoZ World Food is also the only database that covers food culture for 174 countries of the world in six categories: National Cuisine, Regional Cuisine, Daily Meals, Dining Etiquette, Special Occasion Foods, and Food Trivia.

Films on Demand
Access numerous streaming videos on a wide variety of academic topics. Videos may be assigned by faculty for on-campus and online courses or accessed by students as part of their own research. 

An Android version of the Films On Demand mobile app is now available, joining the Apple iOS version released last week. Users can download it from the Google Play store and stream the high-interest educational films from your subscription anytime, anywhere. The Films On Demand app delivers the best academic films to your smartphone or tablet, wherever you are, with an intuitive, ad-free interface—perfect for distance learning. 

Users must sign in with the username and password for their subscribing library or user account in order to access the videos on the Films On Demand app; a Films On Demand subscription is necessary to use the app.
