 Motorcycle Safety BRC

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Basic RiderCourse (updated) is a learn-to-ride education and training safety program that consists of the MSF Basic 3 hour eCourse to address basic motorcycle knowledge, 5 hours of classroom instruction with a RiderCoach to address rider perception and risk management, and then 10 hours of on-cycle, hands-on instruction.  A course completion card may provide an insurance discount.  Riders must be able to balance a bicycle to participate in the riding portion of the course, and a riding skills test must be passed for successful completion.  Space is limited in each class, so pre-registration and pre-payment is required for this class.  Each participant will be provided a unique log-in for the 3 hour eCourse portion of the class.

 Moped Safety

Gain the understanding and skills to become a safe and responsible moped driver in just six hours of classroom instruction. Classroom instruction includes operator and moped preparation, basic control skills, safe riding practices, how to handle complex situations, and moped care. This course does not include hands-on moped instruction. This course meets Iowa Department of Transportation requirements to obtain a moped license at 14. All students must be at least 13-1/2 years of age to take this class. Students should bring a sack lunch for morning classes.  For successful completion of class and to receive the certificate to present to the DOT, the student must have an 80% or better pass rate on the test that is administered at the end of class.  If you live in a surrounding community and have a group of 8 or more interested in taking this class contact Amy Hammack @ 641-683-5216, to set up a class in your area.

Due to the recent Covid 19 outbreak, the Iowa DOT is temporarily allowing students to attend the Moped Rider course in person via remote access.  Registration deadline is May 5, 2020. For the IHCC course, the following technology will be required: Webcam Personal computer or laptop, if this isn’t available to the student please contact the college and the  instructor will contact you regarding other options. Active email account Internet access Current mailing address in student account The Certificate of Completion will be mailed to you after completion. The course will be divided into two zoom meetings. Students are required to attend all 6 hours of instruction through the ZOOM meeting.   Connection information will be emailed to you by May 7, 2020.

 Trip Inspection 

Pre-Trip Inspection

This course will cover all materials needed to successfully pass both pre-trip and in-cab inspection as required by the DOT for CDL testing. Pre-trip testing is also offered for an additional fee, ask your instructor or contact us for more details.  All classes will meet at Indian Hills North Campus, at the Aviation building, room 30.

Pre-trip testing is also offered between Jan 14 - Aug 25 for an additional fee of $100.00, ask your instructor or contact us for more details.

Continuing Education Courses Refund Policy:

In order to qualify for a refund, you must cancel your registration at least 3 business days prior to course start.  If you have not prepaid for the class, charges will be assessed to your account if you do not cancel within the required timeframe or if you do not show up for the class you will be charged.  Exceptions will be made only in extreme circumstances.  To cancel a registration, call us at 1-800-346-4413.
